Artist Background

Sydney based student and artist
born and bred on the northern beaches

My back as an artist is not broad. I grew up loving art. drawing monsters and dragons, dinosaurs and animals is what i did at a young age. my sister was also very creative, she loves colour and painting and she helped and still does to this day with all my drawings and paintings.  I had won school art awards but nothing to boast about, even though i may have done at the age of 12.

I had always drawn and more often than not packed a sketch book with me when going away. Drawing for me was a wind down, to get own the ideas before i forgot them.

I started considering the artist's life around year 11 when I had the choice to study it. I have been lucky in my schooling to have amazing art teacher, all of them seeing i had something to offer and did not stop encouraging me, even to this day.
For this reason i would love to hopefully one day teach art after pursuing a bachelor in fine arts and art education.

2013 The year after high school, i followed in my older (by 6 years) sister's footprints and got into a bachelor of fine arts and art in what used to be called Sydney's College Of Fine Arts (COFA).

I Loved going to COFA, it seemed all the really 'out there' arty types where at COFA, but after a family tragedy i decided to defer in the first 5 weeks of my second semester. I returned to University in 2014 but my courses weren't available. So i waited for 6 months, attempting other courses to pass the time but found not grappling interest in them.

Finally i was ready to get back to my course, what i felt i needed to do, where i needed to be.
another 5 weeks into my second semester, my second year at COFA, I was hit by a car whilst riding my motor bike at about 10pm heading home from my girlfriends family's house. My leg and knee where badly fractured and i could no longer attend any of my classes as it seemed to difficult to travel about 2hrs into the city for Uni from home.

I eventually recovered, suffering some possibly permanent nerve damage in my knee. and at the end of 2014 i decided to attend my Churches bible college at C3 church Oxford falls, which is both a biblical/christian  theology college as well as a creative arts college, full of dance, music, song righting, music, visual arts and media courses.
I originally considered bible college straight after high school but assumed Uni would be more my level of studies. I was sorely mistaken and greatly underestimated the classes at C# college. I find myself doing more  hours  of creative art alone at C3 than i had ever done in a week at COFA, as well as getting the opportunity to study Christian ministry and theology.

To conclude it is only recently that i have truly found myself in a position to pursue my art as a life-long career. i plan to create more and more daily and have a few gallery opens around Sydney by the end of next year alongside my studies. Making artworks seems to be the only thing Im really good at, which is good because i tend to love it all.
